give us the low-down on what's been happening on the ROADS front
at UKOLN of late.
RECCI: ROADS Evaluation of Cataloguing with Connection to Interoperability
As part of the Interoperability strand of ROADS, UKOLN will be carrying
out a study of subject services current cataloguing policies and practice.
This will involve looking at a sample of completed templates which will be
assessed with regard to cross-searching ability and quality. Documentation
covering editorial policies with regard to validation processes and error
checking will also be collected. As part of this work, an up-to-date
statistical analysis of ROADS services' use of templates would also be
gathered.

NewsAgent and ROADS
NewsAgent is an eLib project developing a current awareness service for
LIS based on an Oracle database developed by Fretwell Downing. The
database currently contains around 2500 resource descriptions. UKOLN have
developed a Whois++ front-end to the NewsAgent database using the Whois++
daemon supplied with ROADS. It supports the generation of centroids.
Future work will include incorporating NewsAgent into the growing mesh of
cross-searchable ROADS-based services.

ROADS for Web-site metadata management
UKOLN have some work in prgress on using a ROADS database to hold metadata
about local Web pages and to have that metadata embedded into the pages
dynamically using a server side include script.
