Gateways Workshop for National Libraries in Europe

The European Union is funding DESIRE to run a workshop for the National Libraries of Europe on building national and large-scale Internet Information gateways, in line with international Web and library standards and with a view to developing European collaboration and strategy for Internet cataloguing.

The workshop will look at the role that national libraries might play in developing large-scale, national gateways and interest has been high with the following libraries so far booked to attend:

• Austrian National Library
• National Szichinyi Library Hungary
• Helsinki University Library
• National Library of Latvia
• Russian State Library
• Liechtensteinische Landesbibliothek
• Austrian National Library
• National Library of Lithuania
• National And University Library Croatia
• National and University Library Slovenia
• National Library of Estonia
• Swiss National Library
• Israel National Database of Research and Development
• National Library of the Czech Republic
• Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft
• Biblioteka Narodowa Poland
• Koninklijke Bibliotheek Netherlands

The workshop will be held at the Koninklijke Bibliotheek (National Library of the Netherlands) in September and members of the ROADS team will be speaking.
